The rescheduled The Bay Area Strikes started at the beginning of April and it still continues to rage on venues across America. The House of Blues Las Vegas was ready for the mayhem and thrashery that was about to ensue on a Wednesday night. The bay area’s ambitious thrash metal acts, Death Angel, Exodus and Testament rained hell upon the hungry metal heads.
To kick off the night, Death Angel went on stage with attitude and power. One band that showed amazing gratitude and excitement to be back on stage was Death Angel, Mark Osegueda made sure the fans knew how excited they were to be on the road again. The band played a phenomenal set, with Ted Aguiar on rhythm guitars delivering those powerful riffs and captivating fans. Will Carrol behind his drum set blasted away at fast tracks and delivered some evil. Death Angel is always filled with energy and their performance at The House of Blues, Las Vegas was powerful. Rob Cavestany played mind bending solos and the crowed went berserk during each guitar lick, the cohesiveness Death Angel plays with is brutal and they continue to play majestically. From tracks like “Evil Divide” and “Humanicide” this band smashed some skulls, leaving fans wanting more of their thrash metal.
Exodus, who have just release their lates opus, titled Persona Non Grata via Nuclear Blast Records wrecked the stage. A great tip of the hat goes to Tom Hunting, who after beating cancer he played a relentless show. There was no sign of him stopping and the masses are ecstatic for his return and speedy recovery. Legendary Gary Holt, who just finished playing for Slayer played a neck breaking show, delivering fast and heavy riffs in synchronicity with Lee Altus creating a wave of madness. The fans raged and chanted along with Steve “Zetro” Souza, who with fiery vocals he expelled violent lyrics and a lesson in violence was learned. The attitude on stage and energy conveyed by this band shows years of preparation and Exodus delivered a face melting performance on stage. The band was excited to be playing live and it showed with every riff, drum beat, bass note and lyric. There is no doubt the strike of the beast once again devastated yet another city leaving fans craving more blood.
The headliner, Testament came in heavy with a marvelous setlist and new addition behind the drums. Dave Lombardo, ex-Slayer, Deadcross among others joined the ranks of Testament, and executed his throne like the metal legend he is. From “Brotherhood of The Snake” to “Into The Pit” Testament delivered shrieking melodies, with both Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson on guitars there is no comparable duo. Chuck Billy captivated fans with his spectacular vocals and amped the crowed handing free baggies of goodies. Steve Di Giorgio played a great show, and headbanged with the crowd to some virulent tunes. The House of Blues, Las Vegas moshed and raged to every beat. The fans walked out of the venue with ears ringing and a few broken noses, but that is the price to pay for such a destructive and perfect performance by all three bands. Testament raised hell, and the crowd chanted along with Chuck Billy, meanwhile they enjoyed amazing guitar solos and hammering of the drums by Dave Lombardo. Exodus delivered a perpetual display of musicianship, while the most dance to the toxic waltz. As for Death Angel, their energy was what ignited the beginning of the show and with skillful guitar riffs and musicianship they enamored the fans, opening the gates to mayhem. This tour is still going strong, and they have just announced the second leg of this tour. Check the dates below.
