Marty Friedman, the wizard of guitar riffs has done it again, this time with the album titled Wall of Sound. This riveting record is packed with Marty Friedman’s signature guitar solos, and melodic riffs. A mind blowing composition of modern metal with skills of a legend is what Wall of Sounds depicts. The album consist of eleven lacerating tracks, kicking off with the song titled “Self Pollution”, a destructive force that warms you for what is headed your way. Each track has its own sound, diversity and versatility in style is written all over this record. Marty Friedman does not limit his sound, he explores with Japanese theme songs, with melodies that will calm your mind and levitate as the infernal solos rip through your ears.
Marty Friedman adds twists and turns during each song, specially “Sorrow and Madness”, the melody has impact and takes you on a journey that will leave you breathless. During this song Jinxx from Black Veil Brides is featured and adds a fury like no other. The other track that will floor you is “Pussy Ghost”, the heaviness on that riff and solo are perplex and will intensify each time you listen to the song. Shiv of Deafheaven takes pride in joining Marty Friedman during this amazing track. This is a relentless track that will draw you and captivate your emotions and inhibit your brain. Marty Friedman is a master composer, guitarist, and Japanese resident who continuously appears in Japanese television, shows and has a book published; with a documentary in the works. So this man is multitalented and has unleashed a majestic album with Wall of Sound. Hail Marty Friedman.
Here are some words by Marty Friendman- ““I think Deafheaven is the one truly heavy band that comes to mind when people ask me to recommend something that`s not Japanese! I was super excited to work with Shiv from Deafheaven. We wrote “Pussy Ghost” together and it is one of the most aggressive songs I have ever played, while at the same time evoking grotesquely beautiful moods that I have never felt before. One thing I learned from making Infernois that when you have a guest, let them come up with music first. Let it be their baby, so they are personally invested in the song. Then arrange it and do it my way, then add more things together. This gives you a final song that really sounds like both of the people put their heart and souls into the music, as opposed to one guy doing everything and the guest just blasting out a solo somewhere.”
