Black metal purveyors, The True Mayhem and death metal lords, Cannibal Corpse are sweeping across the nation in the Chaos Horrific Tour 2023; Denver, Co witnessed total brutality. The venue had the perfect view from all angles and plenty of room for moshers to unleash their fury at the Mission Ballroom. Along with support of Gorguts and Blood Incantation, Cannibal Corpse and The True Mayhem played a phenomenal show.

Soon after their live album release, The True Mayhem the purveyors of black metal hailing from Norway levitated the death with their live set. The stage was set ablaze by the supporting acts, and The True Mayhem had arrived and did a spectacular show. The bright lights, and funeral fog were unleashed upon those who craved the dark hymns The True Mayhem has mastered for decades. Some classics like “Freezing Moon” amped the crowd. Corpse paint was visible in the audience of a younger crowd, showing the black metal flag being carried by the new generation. Attila Csihar sang a powerful set, coming out of the darkness and into the light his vocals were captivating.  Teloch and Ghul played each track blasphemously and annihilated the crowd with vicious black metal riffs. On drums, Hellhammer played a relentless show, with ease and perfection he attacked sonically the ears of fans in track like “Death Crush” among others. A dark essence transcended across the venue, fans felt the ominous aura as Mayhem delivered their best performance to date. Necrobutcher brought the pain with the deep notes from hell, his bass was loud and made the walls tremble penetrating the living dead in the crowd, a bestial performance by The True Mayhem.

To conclude the malignant evening, masters of death metal and creators of the most horrific songs, Cannibal Corpse owned the stage.  Their latest release, Chaos Horrific was released on September 23rd, 2023 via Metal Blade Records. This is the second album with Erik Rutan as a writing creator, and still one of the most brutal releases till day. The evolution of death metal is here, and who better than Cannibal Corpse to demonstrate with such energetic performance on stage. Erik Rutan was lively and filled with rage, headbanging and shredding away to tracks like “Chaos Horrific” and “Pounded Into Dust”. The set kicked off with “Scourge of Iron”, followed by “Blood Blind” the fans lost their mind once they played “Disfigured” from the album Vile released nearly 30 years ago (1996). On the throne, sat Paul Mazurkiewicz, who vigorously eviscerated fans track after track. Rob Barret, played a solemn show, dedicating his riffs and solos to the fans and skillfully performing “I Cum Blood”, and his very own “Inhumane Harvest” cacophony of death. Once again, George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher, challenged the audience to headbang faster than him, yet they failed miserably; there is no one who can savagely do this. George Fisher’s vocals were powerful and resonated across the venue, there is no other death metal vocalist as aggressive as him vocally. Alex Webster delivered the depth and bass melodies savagely with discord and ease. A sight to see.

The fans were not ready for the maelstrom of riffs, hammering of drums and grotesque vocals each band delivered. From moshers, to simple spectators, the venue was packed and hundreds of metal heads witnessed a dark ominous performance by Mayhem, along with a debauchery by Cannibal Corpse. A brutal night, packed with resonating drums and shrieking solos an ominous night.
