Valkyrja Replaced by Mork
By lfh on Friday, October 12, 2018, 11:28 AM

Unfortunately VALKYRJA has to postpone their show at Inferno Metal Festival 2019 due to a conflicting schedule. The decision has not been easy for the band, but Valkyrja will return to Inferno in 2020. We are proud to have the black metal band MORK to take their spot.

Mork LogoNorwegian black metal band Mork was formed back in 2004 as a one man band by Thomas Eriksen. By now Mork has released three albums and are currently signed to Peaceville Records. In 2014 Mork gathered a full live lineup and in 2015 they debuted on stage. Mork newest album “Eremittens dal” is regarded as one of the best Norwegian black metal albums in recent years. Mork has the sound and fury of the early black metal albums that was from Norway in the 90s. Also their live performance are top notch and an experience you will remember. So don’t miss out as Mork’s gig at Inferno might just be one of the highlights.

Psykopath, Sepulcher, Nekromantheon and Purple Hill Witch at Inferno 2019
By lfh on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, 11:24 AM

KNIVEN BAR will present their own matinée stage during Inferno Metal Festival 2019, together with DJs and happenings in the bar. The bands that will be presented at Kniven are Bergen’s thrash metal outfit PSYKOPATH, death thrash band SEPULCHER from Fusa, old school thrash metallers NEKROMANTHEON from Kolbotn and Oslo doomsters PURPLE HILL WITCH!

PsykopathPsykopath is a young thrash metal band hailing from Norway’s rainy west coast city Bergen. The band plays loud and aggressive metal with attitude, and are holding the thrash-banner high. Psykopath is inspired by bands like Testament, Exodus, Megadeth, Nuclear Assault and many other bands from the golden age of thrash. The “Primal Instinct” EP, released on Loyal Blood Records marks the first official release from the young thrash outfit. The 3-song EP was produced by Yngve Andersen (Blood Command, Bokassa, Ondt Blod), and mixed by former Metallica producer Flemming Rassmussen.
https://www.facebook.com/psykopath666/

SepulcherIt was but a mere three years ago when Sepulcher burst upon the scene with their debut album for Edged Circle, “Mausoleum Tapestry”. The young Norwegian band’s very first public recording, Mausoleum Tapestry soon exploded the name of Sepulcher onto many a metalhead’s tongue, raking in worldwide critical acclaim, and for good reason: here was a sound both familiar and foreign, firmly rooted in old, obscure death metal and yet brimming with an idiosyncratic energy all of their own. With the stage thus set, SEPULCHER amazingly eclipse that first feat with the even-better follow-up, “Panoptic Horror”. It’s all still very much in the mold that Sepulcher set out from, but here tempered with a startling sense of maturity: more pure headbanging moments, more teasing bouts of tension, more developed (and, often, more warped) solo sections, just MORE of “more” whilst retaining that ripped-raw minimalism at the heart of ancient death metal.
https://www.facebook.com/sepulcherband/

Purple Hill WitchWith their sophomore album Celestial Cemetary out on Church Within Records, Norwegian Purple Hill Witch hits a sweet spot in the metal triangle between Angel Witch, Black Sabbath and Hawkwind. It’s that alchemistic moment where psych, doom, NWOBH, proto metal and rock is molded and sculpted into a perfect entity. Whereas their debut album had more of a stoner rock vibe to it, the new album takes the listener on a sheer proto doom journey past vast galaxies of swirling, Iommic riffs, blistering soli, driving drums and a steady surge of pulsating bass. What really strikes through on Celestial Cemetary is how much atmosphere and true feeling the band manages to cramp into the furrows of their sonic landscape – this album oozes with hallucinogenic visions of occult rituals and barren medieval country sides haunted by wicked witches. As such it leaves an even darker, more sinister imprint, and if there ever was an immaculate soundtrack for when going witch hunting across celestial cemeteries this would have to be it. Grab the magic wand and a copy of Purple Hill Witch’s new album before the next hunt, you will need it.
https://www.facebook.com/PurpleHillWitch/

NekromantheonNekromantheon started out in early 2005 with only one goal in mind: To play fast, evil and dirty thrash metal in the way of the old gods. Influenced by the classics of Slayer, Sadus, Kreator, Dark Angel and Sepultura, they unleashed their attack on modern metal. After the release of the “We’re Rotting” EP in early 2007, the band had already built a name for themselves in the underground scene. As the band got more and more focused on capturing the spirit of the 80s, guitarist Arild “Arse” Myren Torp, and drummer Christian “Kick” Holm started building their own recording studio. Shortly their very own “KickArse Studio” was ready in Kolbotn. With their own creative pit available their first full length album, entitled “Divinity of Death” was released shortly thereafter. Now, this powerful trio has regressed even further back to the glorious days of real metal, breaking the chains to all that is plastic. Their second full-length is even faster, filthier, and more evil than ever! With “Rise, Vulcan Spectre”, Nekromantheon have truly summoned the ancient Greek gods of havoc, and will let nothing stand in the way of this unholy blood offering.

By lfh on Saturday, May 5, 2018, 11:04 AM

After a successful Inferno Metal Festival in 2018 we are already ready to give you more! We have picked out some amazing acts for next year’s festival. With great pride we announce the first bands to Inferno Metal Festival 2019: Taake, Vomitory, Gaahls Wyrd, Batushka, Archgoat, The Ruins of Beverast, Der Weg Einer Freiheit and Avast

INFERNO METAL FESTIVAL 2019:
TAAKE
VOMITORY – GAAHLS WYRD – BATUSHKA – ARCHGOAT
THE RUINS OF BEVERAST – DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT – AVAST
+ MANY MORE TO COME

TaakeThe Norwegian black metal band Taake started under the moniker Thule back in 1993. Band founder Hoest then changed the name to Taake (the Norwegian word for “fog”) in 1995 because he wanted the name to reflect the genuine Norwegian spirit of his music and lyrics. The band has since then released seven albums. With the newly released “Kong Vinter” (“King Winter”), it’s about time that Hoest and his cohorts return to Inferno Festival 2019 to teach the audience a lesson in True Norwegian Black Metal.
https://www.facebook.com/taakeofficial/

VomitoryFor 24 years Swedish death metal legends Vomitory laid waste to stages all over the world and released eight successful albums before laying down their arms in 2013. In 2017 they reunited for one show at Summer Breeze Festival to honor an old friend. The band had such a good time playing again that the thought of future battles together started to grow like a seed in blood drenched soil. 2019 will mark the 30th anniversary
of Vomitory’s supreme death metal and prove to be the perfect year to celebrate at Inferno Metal Festival.
Death Metal Supremacy!
https://www.facebook.com/vomitoryband/

Gaahls WyrdNorwegian black metal band Gaahls Wyrd was formed by Gaahl – a man most famous as the former vocalist of Gorgoroth and Good Seed. Judging by the bands Facebook page, it seems like Gaahl et al will be able to expand their setlist with own songs. Until now they’ve done a great mix of Gorgoroth, God Seed and Trelldom tracks, and at Inferno Festival 2019 we can surely expect a few more from these Gaahl-related bands in addition to the expected new songs. A new album is in the making and will hopefully be released
before Inferno Metal Festival 2019!
https://www.facebook.com/gaahlswyrd/

BatushkaBatushka is a black metal band from Poland. The band has an unique sound as they are blending together traditional black metal with eastern orthodox chants and melodies. Their name means “father” and is used to address an Eastern Orthodox priest. When the band play live they are usually a stronghold of eight people on stage. Batushka was supposed to play already at Inferno 2018 – but had to delay their performed to the next Inferno Metal Festival. This will be an amazing gig by one of the most demanded bands for Inferno in recent years.
https://www.facebook.com/Batushkaband/

ArchgoatBlack metal band Archgoat are from Finland and was formed in 1989. The band had a long break between 1993 and 2004, but has since then served the world brutal filthy black metal that hits listeners like a fist in the face. The band has rarely been in Norway and this will be the first time the band performs at Inferno Metal Festival.
https://www.facebook.com/archgoat.official/

The Ruins of BeverastAfter five albums and some EP/splits, the German multi-musician Alexander von Meilenwald will bring his music to Norway again. Together with the hired guns, The Ruins Of Beverast will strike upon us with their doomish black metal, with songs that vary a lot and with an atmosphere of death and doom. 15 years of doom, 15 years of death and 15 years of massive black/doom metal. At Inferno Festival 2019, The Ruins Of Beverast will do their best to make Easter another triumph of death!

Der Weg Einer FreiheitYou should not judge a band by its name, because you probably don’t know what road to freedom they use. The German black metallers have released four albums, with a variety of tracks, both in expression and running time. At Inferno Festival 2019, you will get a dose of black metal with tracks lasting from 4 minutes to 13+ minutes, always varied and always moving forward, hopefully making you free!

AvastAvast hails from Stavanger, Norway, and fuses the aesthetics of black metal with the atmospherics of postrock to create a soundscape that is both breathtaking and mesmerizing. Since starting out in 2015, the band has released a two track EP, been on one European tour, and the last year has been spent in the studio, recording their debut album “Mother Culture”, scheduled for a fall release. “Mother Culture” is a concept album that examinates the myths on which modern civilization rests upon. The record addresses the potential for a global catastrophe, and is based on the philosophical novel Ishmael by Daniel Quinn.
