So there was a little fuck up on behalf of Philip Anselmo at the beginning of 2016 at the Dimegbag Darrel Bash in Hollywood with his “White Power” remark. However, the dude apologized, and realized he made a huge mistake. Now a new project has emerged with members from Pig Destroyer, Cattle Decapitation, Animosity, and Strong Intention. The sound is similar to Dark Funeral and even early Emperor.
Their song “Dispatched” is brutal black metal, where Philip Anselmo starts with a deep growl, while the guitars add a dark melody as furious as Mayhem. The drum blasts are tenebrous making the song fast and blacker than anything Philip has ever been part of. Scour is definitely going to make a dent in the black metal world; they resemble 1349 as well with their attitude and fast tremolo on riffs past minute 2:09. The melodic sounds will carry you away to a dark cave, filled with fire lanterns and deep paths. The band is definitely something new, as their sound is dark, and has roots of Scandinavian Black Metal. It is a different path for all the members of this new project, one that will propel them forward into the dark fortresses. Here is a taste of this Black Metal – Scour- “Dispatch” From album self-titled will be out on July 15th, 2016 through Housecore Records on CD and vinyl formats. Check out what Philip Anselmo had to say
– “Doing the SCOUR project was a blast. The track, ‘Dispatched’ was the first one I attacked, as it was the first one sent to me. Lyrically, I leave it to the listener to evaluate, as usual. The way I saw it, the songs were short, and extremely straight-forward, so I didn’t want to clutter ’em up with too much. Therefore, I had to pick particular lyrics that seemed provocatively absurd enough, and to perform them as raw as deemed fit. Hope all true extreme music lovers enjoy the stuff as much as I did performing it. A huge cheers to all the awesome collaborators on this project… Much love to all.”
